Welcome to 1216 (Eastleigh) Squadron Air Training Corps. Our website will introduce you to our organisation and the Squadron’s current activities.
At 1216 we pride ourselves in offering the full range of Corps activities, including flying and shooting, in addition to a variety of fun and exclusive Squadron events, in order to create a training programme that will appeal to every young person.
Shaping our vision for the Squadron is the drive to develop well-rounded, highly skilled, capable young people ready and able for a military life or civilian career. We teach and cultivate these qualities through a variety of classroom based sessions and practical activities, ranging from leadership in the field to community work. We particularly seek to develop an interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
The Squadron is built upon a strong foundation of staff and it is through their hard work, dedication and belief that 1216 has gone from strength to strength. This ethos has rubbed off on the cadets who take enormous pride in “their” Squadron and believe that they can rise above the rest to become the best cadets in Hampshire.
Our motto is "Primoris Pauci" or “The first of the few” because we believe 1216 cadets are exceptional. It is also a direct link to Eastleigh's part in the story of the iconic Spitfire, which made it's first ever flight from what is now the airport in 1936.
The Air Training Corps has a tradition of taking young people who have a dared to be different. If you want to be part of the next generation we look forward to welcoming you soon.
